It’s been awhile since we’ve blogged but we are back and ready to share adoption stories, available dogs and their tales, volunteer spotlights, tips and tricks, and much more. Our plan is to blog every few weeks so be sure to stay in touch.
If you have adopted from C.A.R.E. and would like to share your story with others, please let us know. All we need is a few minutes of your time for a quick interview, either by email or phone, and some pictures of your adorable dog.
We are very excited about the recent changes at C.A.R.E.
As some of you may have noticed, we have a new, beautiful website thanks to generosity and hard work of i2i Interactive (Shona and Mary who also adopted dogs from C.A.R.E.). Take a few minutes to explore the site and share with your friends and family.
We also have a new home at 1080 Saratoga Ave #3, San Jose, CA 95123. If you haven’t had a chance to stop by and say hello, please do so — we’d love to see you! We’re there on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 10am until 1pm.
GO FUND ME for Sofi and her pups:
On May 22nd, Sofi and two other dogs were found by a good Samaritan scavenging for food around a school. She was able to catch two of the three dogs and took them home. They were given baths as they were scruffy, filthy and exhausted. Next came the vet check and hope for microchips (no chips and no owner could be found). At the 2nd vet visit, it was discovered that Sofi, a 12 lbs. terrier mix, was pregnant. The good Samaritans contacted C.A.R.E. for help. C.A.R.E. readily stepped in and offered financial support as well as 24-hour access for questions or advice.
The night of their births was terrifying. Sofi had been showing signs of labor for over a week. We soon realized something was wrong. Two puppies were trying to come out at the same time! We rushed to United Veterinary Specialty & Emergency clinic in Campbell, CA, where she had an emergency C-section. Without the intervention of the doctors and nurses there, she would have certainly died, along with her puppies. She lost a great deal of blood and needed a blood transfusion. Sofi delivered 6 beautiful puppies; two boys and four girls. They have been affectionately named: Gus, Grover, Cleo, Milly, Lola, and Violet. Since that hectic evening, Sofi and her puppies have thrived. She is a wonderful mother, even at the young age of 1 & 1/2 years.
Any help with the emergency vet bills (which were over $4,000) for Sofi and her spunky puppies would be greatly appreciated. C.A.R.E. will continue to support and care for Sofi and her puppies until they all have found their forever homes. Please check back here or you can find updates on Facebook.
