For those of you who have followed Tia’s story from the beginning, we bring you “The Final Chapter”!
But for those of you just joining us, a quick recap: We posted a story about “Tia”, a 5 year old female pit bull terrier who we rescued from the San Jose Animal Shelter in August. She was in poor shape and needed medical assistance to become healthy enough to be placed for adoption into her new home. We had so many responses from animal lovers near and far, who donated funds for her medical care. Dr. Kiran Rapal DDS and her staff conducted a fundraiser with the proceeds that helped to put a huge dent into Tia’s medical bills. She was placed for adoption in mid-October and we had several people interested.
WE ARE SO VERY HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT OUR SWEET TIA HAS FOUND HER FOREVER HOME! Well actually, she found her forever home back in August.
When we asked our foster home volunteers if anyone had room and the time to take Tia, the first person to jump up to the task was Sheilly. She started volunteering for CARE in January 2017 and has fostered 6 dogs up until she and her family decided to take Tia into their home. After spending many hours with Tia, introducing her to her family, driving her back and forth to a couple of veterinarian hospitals for multiple appointments and tests, giving her much needed medications, love and attention, taking her for walks and having her as part of the family, Sheilly, her husband and 2 boys, decided – Tia is the one!
Some may call this a “foster failure” – many of us volunteers have had this happen, where you fall in love with a foster dog and end up keeping the dog for yourself. In no way do we consider this case as a failure – it is quite the opposite! It is truly a SUCCESS story for Tia and for the entire family as they officially welcome their new addition! And another plus – Tia will help socialize more foster dogs as Sheilly will continue to help us by fostering!
CONGRATULATIONS TO TIA, SHEILLY & THE WHOLE FAMILY!!
CARE is so very proud to have played a part in this great story. We are pleased to be connected to so many of you, our supporters, in many different ways. And when we called on you to help, you responded! THANK YOU for supporting us for just under 30 years. We will continue to rescue dogs and find them loving homes for as long as we can. This story caps a great 2017 for us and we look forward to seeing many of you in 2018.
Happiest of holidays to all of you and Happy New Year too!
